(...) With their fair skins, long lustrous hairs flowing down their backs like waterfalls and liquid eyes, those woman of the deeps - water maidens that lived in the seas, lakes and rivers - were without a doubt the most beautiful thing that he had ever seen.
Hypnotized by the power and wisdom he felt in their all seeing eyes, Orpheus couldn't move a muscle. As they walked towards him with an aura of light around their divine bodies, the words formed in his spirit in a voice that wasn't his own:
"Now is the time, this is the hour. Come son of the Earth, open your soul to us... take within you the spirit of the gods that we offer you in this solemn day. Prepare your heart, for a great and powerful destiny awaits you. Kings shall fall at your feet and giants will meet their deaths by the sound of your music. Apollo, Lord of the Sun, chose you at birth to defend his cause and blessed you with many gifts. Walk the path that he chose for you, and the powers of the Other World will be at your command. Do not fear... you won't have to face the terrors of your mission on your own. We will always be near to guide you through all of it."
As unexpectedly as they came, the nymphs disappeared into the waters of the lake. Petrified by what he had just experienced, Orpheus began to wonder if he ever saw anything at all. Maybe it all was nothing but a dream... his fertile imagination playing tricks on him. However, something in his mind told him different, for there would have to be a reason why he couldn't stop feeling shivers going down his back. (...)

Hey y'all. This is another piece from a series on Greek myths that I've been working on. I photographed the models myself and then came up with this illustration. As some of you may notice, I was inspire by the paintings from the pre-Raphaelite period and other few from the renaissance.
I also wrote this text to go with the illustration - well, I'm only posting a tiny part of the original tale because it would be too long for the web. I did my best to translate it to English without losing its essence, but I confess that my English skills are not that great - the Portuguese version is much better :S
I hope you guys like it :)
Models from left to right:
SOPHIA PAN. Sophia is not a stranger to my loyal readers because she has been modeling for me for about a year now, and has already taken part in a several of my illustrations. She is a very talented and amazingly chameleonic, London based model. I love working with her and recommend her modeling services to anyone.
JORIS JÂRVIS LECHÊNE: Joris is an extremely talented and very easy going French model, currently based in Lisbon. Besides the obvious - his ethnic beauty and natural charm, he has a lot of presence and he's very charismatic. He's also a very reliable and responsible guy, he always shows up on time. This is the first time that we have worked together and I am really happy with the result. I think that he has the perfect look for the kind of work that I do, I'm looking forward to work with him again. I recommend him to all great photographers out there.
JOANA MOITAS BEJA: Joana isn't a newbie here on the blog. You probably remember her from my previous post Nimue Drowned in the Water. What can I say about her... This gorgeous girl has been my very best friend since like... EVER. We are friends since I was 4 and she was 2. She is part of who I am, I really can't imagine my life without Joana being in it. Surprisingly, she is not a professional model, she only accepted to do this session as a favor to me (wasn't very easy to convince her :P). Besides her mesmerizing looks, she is an incredible pianist and a music teacher. I hope that she liked the experience and grants me the pleasure of working with her many more times in the future.
I would like to thank my models for the great job we did together and for putting up with me and my crazy ideas. Please forgive me for all the long hours we spent inside ice cold water, shivering from head to toe. I hope that you think it was all worth it :P

"É chegada a hora.

Provavelmente lembrar-se-ão dela na minha série Nimue Drowned in the Water.
